Reports

Last September, NDCF released the results of its year-long investigation of the “hidden” costs associated with America’s oil import addiction. The investigation entailed a review of more than half a million pages of documentation and an in-depth peer review by noted experts from fields as diverse as special operations, military logistics, energy production, environmental science and medicine. In the weeks and months that followed, the report was widely quoted including mentions in the February 4, 2004 edition of the Wall Street Journal and August 30 edition of Fortune Magazine. The results of the study have also been incorporated in the United States Department of Energy’s “Transportation Energy Data Book” published by Oak Ridge National Laboratories.

NDCF’s analysis of the economic benefits of developing the oil and gas resources located in Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge was equally well received, and was the subject of a 15 minute presentation on the floor of the United States Senate by Senator Lisa Murkowski.

NDCF is also in the process of conducting a study evaluating the merits of various technologies that can be employed to reduce U.S. oil import dependence. The preliminary results, published in February of 2004 have garnered extensive interest.
